ROSEMARY EXTRACT Rosemarinus officinalis
Description Brown liquid, extracted from the leaves.
Active Ingredients essential oils, polyphenols (phenolic terpens: camphor, eucalyptol, alpha-pinene, carnosol and carnosic acid, ursolic acid, rosmarinic acid, rosmanol, epirosmanol) and flavonoids, linoleic acid.
Properties Anti-oxidant activity, superoxide dismutase like activity. Scavenging effect weaker than vitamin C but stronger than vitamin E. Tonic, cleansing, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, moisturizing, softening, rejuvenating.
Application In hair products like shampoos and conditioners, it gives brilliancy to the hair. Also in anti-ageing and moisturizing skin care products.
Dosage in formulation From 0.5% to 10 %
Solubility In water, dispersible in oil
Toleration For the manufacture of cosmetic preparation, rosemary extract is non-irritant to the intact skin. No objection to the application of preparations containing this extract in the vicinity of the eye.
Storage Refrigerated (2-4 C ) (protected from light, in well closed containers. For good efficiency, this extract should not be stored for longer than 1 year before processing.
