LEMON EXTRACT
Citrus Limonum vulgaris. The extracted part is the whole fruit.
Description A yellow liquid extracted from the lemon peel mixed to the lemon juice, with a strong lemon odor.
Active Ingredients Flavonoids, polyphenols, ascorbic acid and citric acid.
Properties Extract of the outer rind of lemon is a mild bleach due to its richness in polyphenols (have anti-oxidant and bleaching effect) , lemon juice is rich in citric acid an AHA that can brighten dull skin because of its exfoliating action. Lemon extract is also a natural astringent, antiseptic and bactericidal. It is abundant in vitamins A, B& C. Vitamin C has a tissue repair and collagen maintaining action, it has also a whitening action, by inhibiting tyrosinase and melanin production.
Application Whitening products, hair shampoos and tonics, oily skin preparations, acne products.
Dosage In cosmetic preparation: 0.5% to 10 %
Solubility In water
Toleration For the manufacture of cosmetic preparation, lemon extract is non-irritant to the intact skin. It is preferable to avoid eye area at high concentration.
Storage Refrigerated 2-4 C (protected from light, in well closed containers. For good efficiency, this extract should not be stored for longer than 1 year before processing.
